It was a beautiful, sunny, mid-day to take family portraits in Smithville, MO at Smithville Lake this weekend. It was fairly warm, but the shade and the breeze were great. The water was calm and relaxing, and the wind in the trees was peaceful to hear! I love being outdoors to take photos, with spring and fall being my favorite times of the year.
I had the great pleasure of capturing my best friend’s awesome family of 5! This was one of my favorite family portrait sessions so far! I have known this family for nearly 20 years now. I have enjoyed seeing them get married, raising their 3 sons, and just having a great time a life. Smithville Lake is one of their family favorite locations, so it made a perfect location. We picked out 2 separate sites there at Smithville Lake that worked well with the sun and scenery.
They wanted to have a more “formal” photo of the family together, then some various group photos. Getting some of the lake in the background was a must for some of the photos. They had some great ideas, and paired with mine, we were off to capture memories! At the very least, I like to get photos of the whole family, then also shots of:
- Mom and Dad together
- Mom and all the kids
- Mom and each kid
- Dad and all the kids
- Dad and each kid
- Walking together
- Enjoying each other
- HAVING FUN!
Below are just some of the highlights from their session. Everyone had a great time, and the session was a success!
