2024 has been an unusually dry and warm year, so the fall colors were hard to come by. I was asked by a family friend to take some senior portraits in Liberty, MO. I scouted around the surrounding areas for a few days to see how the trees looked. We chose Mid-Continent Public Library – Woodneath because there were some lovely colors in the trees. MCPL – Woodneath has a gorgeous campus, with lots of mature trees and architecture.
His family and ours go way back, and it was truly an honor to get to capture this milestone for him! They wanted outdoor photos with the fall colors, so I was thankful to find the location that we did. Otherwise, he just wanted some good poses and simple/easy portraits. He brought 3 separate outfits that he liked and wanted photos in. Everything went smooth and fell together perfectly.
When I photograph seniors, I like to incorporate their interests, hobbies, and personalities as best I can. As part of my process, I send out a questionnaire to gather this information before the initial consultation call. The more details, the better! It helps me plan out your session to get the best experience and “bang for your buck”.
If location(s) aren’t specified, I get to work looking through my list of hot spots. I also then get online, researching other spots that best fit. I finally go visit the locations in person to see how they look when it gets closer to the session date. I don’t like to leave things to chance when it comes to your memories!
